This is a warm story about a young girl and her relationship with her grandmother. Pounamu's grandmother is given the young girl to raise, and she teaches her many skills such as gathering shellfish and weaving. One day Nanny gives Pounamu two stones, telling her they are a treasure, just as Pounamu herself is. Pounamu leams from her family how her Nanny would call dolphins to her with the stones, but never quite believes the story until, one night she experiences the magic of the stones for herself.
