While his brother Sam has run off to join the Patriots in the battle against the British, he's stuck in a new school with an angry school master and three bullies who are out to get him. What's worse, his best friend, Caroline, now seems to hate him. And when the crazed Xavier Wormley drags Dr. Quincy off to the war (against the doctor's religious beliefs), there's nothing Thomas can do to help his friend. Or is there?
